Dailymirror.news December 22nd, 2024 : The ICRISAT Run 2024 Winter Edition was successfully held on Sunday, December 22nd, 2024, at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), located in Hyderabad, Telangana. This pioneering international organization, which is at the forefront of agricultural research, saw the enthusiastic participation of over 400 runners.

The event featured 10 km, 16 km, and 21 km races, with participants showing great enthusiasm as they completed their respective runs. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of improving dryland farming and agri-food systems, addressing key issues like hunger, malnutrition, poverty, and environmental degradation. These challenges impact approximately 2.1 billion people living in the drylands of Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and beyond.

The run took place on ICRISAT’s expansive campus, which covers 3435 acres and boasts cutting-edge research facilities and precision fields dedicated to agricultural studies. Established in 1972, ICRISAT is one of the 15 research centers globally that is part of the Consortium of International Agricultural Research Centers (CGIAR).

After the run, all participants were treated to a lavish breakfast as a token of appreciation. The vibrant energy of the runners and their commitment to the cause made the ICRISAT Run 2024 a special event, with many participants expressing their interest in joining future editions.
