Dailymirror.news,Mumbai, April 2, 2025: Swaraj Tractors, a division of the Mahindra Group, has announced a strategic partnership with Mahindra Susten—the Group’s clean-tech arm—to establish Punjab’s largest solar group captive project. The 26 MW solar installation, located in Bathinda district, aims to power Swaraj Tractors’ manufacturing operations with clean, renewable energy.

This landmark project will supply green electricity to four Swaraj manufacturing units based in Mohali and Dera Bassi. Developed by Mahindra Susten, the solar plant is expected to generate approximately 60 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of renewable energy annually. This will help offset nearly 54,600 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year—significantly advancing the Group’s environmental goals.

With this initiative, Swaraj Tractors will scale its renewable energy usage to 50%, marking a major milestone in Mahindra’s journey toward sustainability and climate action in industrial operations.

Hemant Sikka, President of the Farm Equipment Sector at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., stated,

“This pathbreaking solar project sets a new precedent in India’s tractor manufacturing sector. We’re proud to lead the shift toward green energy while advancing our mission of Transforming Farming and Enriching Lives.”

Echoing the company’s commitment, Gaganjot Singh, CEO of the Swaraj Division, said,

“This project symbolizes our dedication to building a greener, more sustainable future. Through our collaboration with Mahindra Susten, we’re confident in achieving our renewable energy goals and supporting Punjab’s clean energy transformation.”

The project also marks Mahindra Susten’s expansion into Punjab, further strengthening its role as a leading Independent Power Producer (IPP) in the renewable sector.
Deepak Thakur, MD & CEO of Mahindra Susten, commented,

“Our focus is to provide clean and customized power solutions to commercial and industrial clients across India. Partnering with Swaraj Tractors allows us to contribute meaningfully to India’s green energy transition.”

As one of the first Indian conglomerates to pledge 100% renewable energy adoption, the Mahindra Group continues to lead in sustainability and green innovation across sectors.
