
Dailymirror.news,New Delhi, 25th December 2024: Reliance Retail Limited, India’s largest retail conglomerate, marked National Consumer Day by signing the Consumer Safety Pledge, an initiative spearheaded by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. The ceremony, held in the presence of Hon’ble Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Sh. Pralhad Joshi, Hon’ble Minister of State, Sh. B L Verma, and Secretary of the Department of Consumer Affairs, Smt. Nidhi Khare, signifies a major step in raising awareness about product safety regulations and promoting consumer rights in India.
Representing Reliance Retail, Sh. Ravi Gandhi, President and Chief Public Policy & Regulatory Officer, signed the pledge, reaffirming the company’s commitment to consumer safety across its platforms, including JioMart, AJIO, Reliance Digital, and Netmeds. The initiative highlights Reliance Retail’s dedication to adhering to the highest safety standards while fostering an informed and secure consumer ecosystem.
Key Principles of the Consumer Safety Pledge:
- Preventing Unsafe Products: Identifying and eliminating the sale of non-compliant and unsafe products.
- Ensuring Compliance: Collaborating with statutory authorities to meet product safety regulations.
- Educating Sellers: Promoting awareness among sellers about their responsibility to ensure safe products.
- Empowering Consumers: Providing tools and knowledge to help consumers report safety concerns.
Speaking at the event, Sh. Ravi Gandhi emphasized, “Consumer safety is central to our operations. By signing this pledge, we reaffirm our commitment to creating a safe and secure e-commerce marketplace for millions of consumers.”

Sh. B L Verma lauded the initiative, stating, “Under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, the Department of Consumer Affairs has taken proactive measures to safeguard consumer interests. I commend Reliance Retail and other companies for joining this pledge, contributing to a safer and more reliable marketplace for all.”
Reliance Retail’s pledge underscores its adoption of advanced technologies, such as AI-enabled monitoring, to identify and eliminate unsafe products across its platforms. The company has also pledged to actively collaborate with the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) and other regulatory bodies to address safety concerns promptly.
