
Dailymirror.news,India, 11th March ,2025: Canon India continues to reinforce its commitment to community development as it celebrates four years of adopting Parivali Village, Bhiwandi, Maharashtra-the seventh village under its flagship ‘Adopt a Village’ initiative.
The milestone was marked by Mr. Toshiaki Nomura, President & CEO, Canon India, who inaugurated a rainwater harvesting facility & recharge pit, aimed at addressing water scarcity concerns in Maharashtra. These eco-friendly and cost-effective solutions will help meet water requirements for school sanitation, maintenance, and plantation within the village.

As part of Canon India’s 4Es policy (Education, Eye Care, Environment, and Empowerment), the company has successfully enrolled 594 students through its Resource Centre and Computer Classes. The village school has been recognized twice under the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s ‘My School, Beautiful School’ campaign for its holistic development.

Infrastructure advancements include the installation of drinking water stations, separate toilets for boys and girls, and a fully functional library. Additionally, 354 students have gained access to skill-based training programs designed to enhance employability and self-sufficiency.
Under its Vision Centre, Canon has facilitated eye check-ups and camps for over 4,174 people, ensuring timely medical interventions. In alignment with its sustainability efforts, 1,685 trees have been planted, supported by active participation from local residents in cleanliness drives.

In addition to ‘Adopt a Village,’ Canon India also launched the Skill Development and Livelihood Programme, aligned with the Skill India mission, to uplift urban slum youth (aged 18-25 years) by preparing them for customer-centric and grey-collar jobs. The program has already enrolled 541 youth, with 234 successfully placed in jobs, doubling their family income.

Since its inception in 2012, the ‘Adopt a Village’ initiative has impacted multiple communities across India, fostering long-term change through its 4Es policy and infrastructure development.
Today, Canon India has expanded its efforts to nine adopted villages, including Nandrampur Bass (Haryana), Parivali (Maharashtra), Annadodi (Karnataka), and Kalyanpur (Kolkata), continuing its mission to drive sustainable development and empowerment across the country.
