DailyMirror.news,Hyderabad, 19 September 2024: In a significant crackdown on counterfeit products, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL), known for its flagship brands Good Knight and Godrej Expert Hair Dye, has collaborated with the Telangana state police to take action against a supplier in Hyderabad involved in the illegal distribution and storage of counterfeit Godrej products. The raid comes in response to multiple complaints received by GCPL regarding the sale of counterfeit items in Telangana.

During a coordinated investigation, the police and GCPL’s quality assurance team conducted a raid on the supplier’s premises. The operation led to the seizure of 2,000 units of Good Knight Gold Flash packaging, 85 packaged Good Knight Gold Flash Liquid Vapourisers, and 180 units of Godrej Expert Hair Dye.

An FIR (First Information Report) has been filed against the accused under sections 63 and 65 of the Copyright Act, 1957, as well as section 318(4) and section 349 of the BNS of 2023, which pertain to counterfeiting and copyright infringement.

The police are actively investigating the distribution network linked to these counterfeit products, aiming to eliminate the sale of duplicates in Telangana. This operation is intended to send a strong message to dealers of counterfeit goods, ensuring consumers have access to authentic and safe products from Good Knight and Godrej Expert.

Shilpa Suresh, Head of Marketing for Home Care at GCPL, expressed concern about the proliferation of counterfeit products in the FMCG sector. “The spread of counterfeit products across the country is a major concern for the FMCG industry. Counterfeits are not only illegal but also harmful and hazardous to human health. GCPL invests a significant portion of its revenue in developing innovative products that serve our customers better.

We regularly conduct quality checks in collaboration with our distribution network, local authorities, and consumers. This initiative with the Hyderabad police will hold local retailers, manufacturers, and distributors of duplicate Good Knight and Godrej Expert products accountable,” she stated.

GCPL urges consumers to exercise caution when purchasing Good Knight Gold Flash and Godrej Expert Hair Dye, advising them to always obtain products accompanied by a genuine sales invoice.
