Dailymirror.news,Hyderabad, 25 September, 2024: WeWork India, one of the leading flexible workspace providers, hosted the second edition of its Sustainability Summit today at Krishe Emerald, Hyderabad, with a focus on Energy Efficiency. Following the success of its inaugural edition, this year’s summit emphasised on collaboration and innovative solutions in energy management, driving India toward a sustainable future.

WeWork India’s Sustainability Summit has emerged as a key platform for policymakers, corporate sustainability leaders, and NGOs committed to tackling critical environmental challenges. The summit featured industry leaders, academicians, and innovators discussing actionable strategies for advancing energy efficiency and sustainability through high-impact discussions, keynotes, and workshops designed to inspire sustainable practices.

Building on the previous edition’s momentum and working towards their long-term sustainability goals, WeWork India has achieved impressive sustainability milestones. This includes neutralising a total emission of 19,582 KgCO2e—equivalent to growing 324 tree seedlings for a decade, total carbon footprint offset of 25,346Kg CO2e, and collecting 232 kg waste during our plogg runs.

Multiple panel discussions were conducted, along with a keynote from Karan Virwani, CEO of WeWork India, focusing on the future of green energy and sustainable building design. Experts from the field such as  Dr. Shivraj Dhaka, CII; Dr. Disha Ahuja, Ahuja Engineering Services; Vishal Katariya, Ankur Capital; Shantanu Sharma, Pro Zero Carbon; and Rohit Chashta, Schneider Electric discussed green energy infrastructure and consumer behaviour towards sustainability. Moderated byRadhika Choudary, Freyr Energy Services Private Limited, another panel focused on AI-driven energy management solutions, wherein energy experts Jeeten Desai, Ambiator; Stanley Charles, Midwest Energy; Arnav Gusain, WeWork India;  Vishnu R Krishnan, 75F; Dr Pradeep Yemulla, IIT Hyderabad; and Pruthvi Kathavi, Digital Blanket. Additionally, IIT Hyderabad’s Greenko School of Sustainability conducted a learning session on advanced energy management techniques for households and businesses.

With sponsorship from Aryan Group and Pace Seating, the Sustainability Summit 2024 marks a significant milestone in India’s journey toward a greener future. Some of the highlights of the first edition includes successfully offsetting the total carbon footprint of the event and ensuring a net-zero impact, all 143 kg of waste generated during the event was processed – 96 kg was recycled, and 47 kg was composted, ensuring nothing ended up in landfills. Additionally, the launch of a Zero-Waste Workplace Guide reinforced WeWork India’s commitment to circular economy principles. WeWork India’s other key initiatives aimed at driving positive societal impact include the Tarahunise village adoption and Tarahunise lake restoration projects in Karnataka and Living with Leopards project at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
