Dailymirror.news,Hyderabad, September 28, 2026: Mehrunisha Begum, a Hyderabad’s girl  won the Silver Medal for India in Logistics and Freight Forwarding at the 48th WorldSkills Competition Shanghai 2026, one of the world’s most prestigious international skill competitions.

WorldSkills is one of the world’s largest international platforms for vocational and professional skills and is often regarded as the global championship for skilled professions.

Mehrunisha represented India against highly skilled competitors from across the world and demonstrated excellence in international logistics, freight forwarding, documentation, routing, commercial decision-making and customer handling. Mehrunisha completed her BBA in Logistics from Begumpet Degree College, Hyderabad and is presently working with Cargomen Logistics India Pvt. Ltd.

At Cargomen, she handles the Thermo Fisher Scientific account, gaining practical exposure to international logistics operations, customer coordination, documentation and freight-management processes.

She underwent intensive preparation under Kamal Jain and the training team, covering international freight forwarding, air and ocean cargo, multimodal transport, freight calculations, Incoterms, customs procedures, documentation, dangerous goods, customer communication and practical problem-solving.

The Logistics Sector Skill Council (LSC) provided training and institutional support for her WorldSkills journey. LSC plays an important role in promoting skill development and industry-aligned competencies in India’s logistics sector.

The 48th WorldSkills Competition was held in Shanghai, China, from 22 to 27 September 2026. Around 1,400 young professionals from nearly 70 countries and regions competed across 64 skills, covering sectors such as manufacturing, technology, services, transportation, construction and logistics.

The competition enables young professionals to benchmark their knowledge and practical abilities against international occupational standards. Logistics and Freight Forwarding is an important professional skill supporting international trade and global supply chains.

Competitors are tested on areas such as freight planning, international transportation, documentation, customs compliance, cargo handling, costing, routing, Incoterms, customer service and operational problem-solving.

Mehrunisha’s medal demonstrates the growing capability of young Indian logistics professionals to compete successfully at international standards. The Government of India, through the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, has been promoting vocational and professional skills through the Skill India ecosystem.

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) plays a key role in coordinating India’s participation in WorldSkills and developing the national skill competition ecosystem.

Through initiatives such as IndiaSkills and WorldSkills, young professionals receive opportunities to develop industry-relevant competencies and represent India on international platforms.

Mehrunisha Begum’s journey from studying logistics in Hyderabad, gaining practical industry experience at Cargomen and eventually winning a WorldSkills Silver Medal for India reflects the importance of combining education, industry exposure, professional training and structured mentorship.

Her achievement can inspire more young people to consider logistics and supply chain management as a professional career with global opportunities.
